THE REGION

The River Rance flows through the medieval town of Dinan, it then widens into an estuary and flows out to sea between Dinard, the 19th century seaside resort and the historic port of St Malo. Plouer sur Rance lies on the west bank of this beautiful estuary.

The valley of the Rance is a perfect place for holiday. It offers history, culture, the sea-side, outdoor activities and water-sports all in a picturesque setting.

There are wonderful river-side walks linking each village on the Estuary, this is part of the GR34 (Grande Randonnée 34), one of the national network of foot-paths through the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of the French countryside. Cycling is a pleasure on the Voie Verte or along the towpath of the Canal d’Ille et Rance, which winds through the pastoral countryside from Dinan to Rennes and beyond. We have several bicycles you can borrow.

The Marina at the Port of Plouer has berths for visiting boats, a cafe/restaurant on the Quay and there are sailing-dinghies, canoes and kayaks available for hire to visitors at the Centre Nautique just 800m away from the house. Horse-riding is offered at various stables in the Val de Rance.

For golfers, there are three golf courses locally: St-Briac, Le Tronchet and Les Ormes.

To the west, the beautiful beaches of St.Lunaire, St.Briac and Lancieux are only 25mins away. To the east, Cancale and the spectacular Bay of Mont St.Michel are only 30mins away.
